Sailor Moon’s first three seasons arrive for free on YouTube

The first three seasons of Sailor Moon, the historic animated series originally broadcast between 1992 and 1995, are released for free on the franchise’s official YouTube channel, CrunchyRoll reports. 10 episodes will be released weekly starting Friday, April 24, until the 127 episodes are available before the end of July.

Free release precedes launch of next two-part Sailor Moon movie Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie, the first part of which opens in Japan on September 11. The film is based on a script from the original manga, which was later adapted in the fourth season of the anime, which means that watching the first three seasons should allow you to familiarize yourself with the script.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic is not cited as the reason for the free release, the first three seasons of Sailor Moon join an increasing amount of content that is being released for free to help people pass the time while themselves insulation at home. During the pandemic, we saw it all: free comics, free games, free TV shows and movies, and even a free published audio book.
