Ryanair customers furious after airline distributes vouchers instead of refunding canceled flights

Ryanair customers became furious after the airline distributed vouchers instead of refunds.

Flights have been blocked across the UK due to coronavirus, leaving many people with no choice but to cancel their vacation plans.

Ryanair customers who have had their flights canceled following the pandemic were asked to complete an online form for a full refund.

Ryanair customers received vouchers instead of requested refunds

But many were angry with the company for issuing coupons as an alternative.

Customers turned to Twitter to express their anger, one of them saying, “Finally, my flight refunds were processed but they gave me a refund coupon instead. I can redeem the voucher instead, but it will not be refunded until after all of the Covid-19 emergencies have passed! The voucher is valid for 12 months only. ”

Another said, “I have been waiting for a refund from @Ryanair for over a month and I am now told that I can have a voucher or wait in a refund queue until” the emergency COVID-19 is passed “every time. Thief **** **** Give me my money. “

“Absolutely ridiculous, did they tell us to ask for a refund 3-4 weeks ago for the canceled flight and now send emails with a voucher to use on one of their flights?” Well, we can’t book to go anywhere? But if we want our money, do you have to wait for COVID to end? Said another angry customer.

“Ryanair are you for real? I requested a REFUND. NOT a travel voucher, ”said a fourth.

“Requested a refund for my flights with @Ryanair on March 27 and was informed that I would be refunded within 5-7 days. Today, almost a month later, I received a Ryanair voucher, no refund and no way to claim. It is unethical and dishonest. Can I get my refund? Asked another.

In an email to customers, the airline states, “You can request a cash refund, but remember that we will put your request in the cash refund queue until the COVID-10 emergency is over. We strongly recommend that you use the refund voucher as they are readily available and you can book flights on all Ryanair group airlines to over 200 destinations in Europe and the Middle East. ”

On the airline’s website it says, “If your flight has been canceled, you have been notified by email and SMS and you have the option of requesting a refund, booking or redirecting your trip and to receive reasonable care, if applicable. Otherwise, your flight is operating normally. ”

To postpone flights, it says: “We have waived our flight change fees for all travel between March 13 and May 31. The flight can be changed at any time until August 31. A rate change will apply. “

In a statement released on April 20 by Ryanair, the airline said: “As most EU countries have imposed flight bans or other restrictions, more than 99% of Ryanair’s planes are immobilized during for the next few weeks. We will respect these restrictions at all times.

“We are working with EU governments to try to keep certain minimum air routes open for emergency reasons, even if the passenger load on these flights is very low. We are extending this limited program by one week until Thursday, April 30. Ryanair operates these daily or weekly flights.

“All the planes are disinfected daily. With low loads, social distance is optimized on board and we ask all passengers to cooperate fully with our crews who do their best in difficult times to maintain vital links to / from Ireland and to / from the Kingdom – United to help our passengers and their families deal with emergencies that may require urgent travel in the coming days and weeks.

“At the moment, we don’t know how long the lockdown will last. We fully support the measures taken by the EU governments and we are ready to take off when COVID-19 is defeated, which we hope will happen sooner than later.

“Until then, let’s all take care of ourselves, others, our families and our communities. “

Ryanair has been contacted for a statement regarding the coupons.
