Hayley Wickenheiser’s call for medical supplies for frontline healthcare workers got help from actor Ryan Reynolds.
Wickenheiser is in medical school after retiring from a decorated hockey career that includes four Olympic gold medals.
On Monday, the 42-year-old woman from Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, pleaded for chemotherapy masks, gloves and dresses on her Twitter account.
“After the desperate calls from my frontline friends in Toronto, I decided to start a request,” Wickenheiser wrote in his article. “These items are not for my use at all. I’m not looking for money. “
Wickenheiser offered to pick up the items herself in Toronto with an “appropriate distance”.
“I don’t have much to offer in return, maybe a signed jersey, a smile and good Karma guaranteed,” she wrote.
Reynolds picked up the thread, stating that “the people who help Hayley” get personal protective equipment “will get something great from me.” “
The Canadian actor who starred in “Deadpool”, “Green Lantern” and “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” offered personalized videos and film memories.
Conquer COVID-19, an organization that helps healthcare workers get supplies, tweeted Monday night that it had collected five loads of medical supplies for the campaign. The tweet included a photo of Wickenheiser with one of the boxes of supplies.
