Rose Namajunas out of rematch with Jessica Andrade

Rose Namajunas is not coming back with Jessica Andrade to UFC 249, after all.

Namajunas (8-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) was out of the rematch with fellow former strawweight champion Andrade (20-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC) on April 18. The fight was to co-titrate the April 18 card, which would take place at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, California.

MMA Junkie confirmed the withdrawal of Namajunas with a person close to the situation following an initial report from the Brazilian media Combate. The person requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

The reason for Namajunas’ removal from the map is unclear. It is also unclear whether a replacement opponent will be found for Andrade.

Andrade against Namajunas was slated to be the pair’s second game after Andrade won the 115 pound UFC title in Namajunas by slam KO last May at UFC 237.

The latest UFC 249 range now includes:

  • Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje – for interim lightweight title
  • Jessica Andrade against her opponent to be determined

  • Vicente Luque against Niko Price

  • Francis Ngannou against Jairzinho Rozenstruik
