Mojo Rawley provoked a close friend Rob Gronkowski on night 1 of WrestleMania 36, and the show’s host took revenge on Sunday evening.
On Saturday, 24/7 champion R-Truth joined Rawley and Gronkowski atop Gronk’s lawn, and was introduced by ex-New England Patriot star. Gronkowski quickly went for coverage – the 24/7 championship can be won at any time, hence the name – but Rawley pushed Gronkowski out of R-Truth and pinned the champion himself to win the belt. Rawley then called Gronk and disappeared, setting the stage for what happened on Sunday.
Just after the epic Last Man Standing match of Edge and Randy Orton ended, a massive fight spread behind the scenes and around the ring involving Rawley and several challengers for his belt. Gronkowski jumped out of his perch to eliminate the entire crowd, then pinned Rawley to win the title. Gronk then sprinted away from the stage to safety.
