After a month-long break, Riverdale finally came back with his musical episode, “Wicked Little Town”. But with songs from Hedwig and the angry thumb, fans could see Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Archie (KJ Apa) finally giving in to their pent-up chemistry. Bughead Stan was quick to criticize Betty, but actress Lili Reinhart came to the defense of her character on Twitter.

How “Riverdale” shocked viewers with this Barchie moment
Since the first season of Riverdale, fans knew that Betty and Archie had something special between them. Initially, before they met and fell in love with Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Veronica (Camila Mendes), the two had chemistry, and they could easily have become the “it” couple of Riverdale High.
But when Jughead and Veronica entered the scene, Betty and Archie put aside their chemistry and remained good friends. It wasn’t until Season 4, Episode 15, that the two began to review their connection.
To expose his enemies, Jughead simulated his death. And to convince the Stonewall Prep students that he was gone, Betty and Archie pretended to start dating. But even if the two were just out for the show, it looked like they might have rekindled old sparks.
Then, in the musical episode “Wicked Little Town”, Betty and Archie argue with Jughead and Veronica. Betty is upset that Jughead is not taking school and diplomas seriously. And Veronica is upset, Archie didn’t tell her about how her father looked after her health.
Upset and annoyed, Betty and Archie come to rehearse a song for the show. As they sing their interpretation of “The Origin of Love” by Hedwig and the angry thumb, a montage of their cutest moments is shown.
Then, unexpectedly, the two share a passionate kiss, confirming that they have been feeling for a while. At the end of the episode, Archie and Betty reconcile with Veronica and Jughead. But they conveniently hide all the details of their makeup session.
Some “Riverdale” fans were not satisfied
Jughead is a fan favorite, and after all that he and Betty have lived together, Bughead Stans was counting on them to be a solid couple forever. But after watching Betty and Archie kiss and then lie about it, fans said the two were disloyal.
“I can’t believe how people treat cheating lightly as if it was just a simple mistake”, a fan tweeted. “Is it because it’s a show? or Betty? It can literally destroy other people’s lives. If I were Jughead or Veronica, I would actively avoid Betty and Archie from my life permanently. “
“I hate being like that but no. I will not accept or accept any excuses as to why it was acceptable for Betty and Archie to lie like this, ” tweeted another fan. “And so continue the next episode. They don’t have a free pass for hurting Jug and Veronica and ruining so many good things. “
Lili Reinhart responds to Betty’s enemies
Shortly after “Wicked Little Town” aired, actress Lili Reinhart went on Twitter to defend Betty and her choices. “A little food for thought – You don’t have to accept or support Betty’s choices, but she’s a young girl,” Reinhart wrote in the tweet. “And she understands herself, like everyone else in the world. And sometimes people do bad things. “
“Love is messy, love is confusing … tensions are high”, she added in another tweet.
In a preview of episode 18, it looks like Betty could make her love life a little more messy. In the trailer for “Lynchian”, Betty is lying in bed with Archie in a romantic candlelit room. “Archie, why are we here?” Betty asks, to which Archie responds, “I don’t know, but it feels good, right? »»
Who knows how far Archie and Betty will go before Veronica and Jughead find out what they did. Riverdale will return with new episodes on April 29 on The CW.
