Television producer Rick – who filmed a reality show after Exotic for five years – spotlighted the flamboyant exotic “facade”.
The reporter said that the main star of the Netflix docuseries was terrified of the tigers despite his huge involvement with big cats.
In the docuseries, Exotic appears to be a great lover of tigers as the operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park.
But reporter Rick said the zoo operator would only enter cages if the tigers were blind or sedated.
He said to Extra, “You were drawn to this surreal world of Joe Exotic and he acted in front of the camera as if he were leading the world, he was not afraid of anything …
“He was very afraid of tigers, very afraid. Those with whom he would enter the cages were blind or under sedation. It was just a facade. “
The reality producer also exposed how the scenes were staged to create the illusion of Exotic.
Rick said there was a coach on hand because Exotic was so terrified.
He added, “What people don’t know behind this chair was the real coach. These were not [Joe’s] tigers.
“It was someone else’s tigers they could control and he was behind with a gun and chained the tigers, because Joe was terrified of going into cages with tigers . “
This comes just when the inmate was taken to hospital after being able to contract a coronavirus in the Texas prison where he was serving his sentence.
