“Plenty of milk” is available to meet the demands of dairy farmers, says Farmer

Local dairy producer says industry is more than ready to respond to consumer demands during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Byrne announced yesterday that farmers had to throw out 170,000 liters of spoiled milk last week due to a lack of orders in stores.

Crosbie Williams owns and operates Pondview farms in the Goulds.

Williams notes that he typically produces about 135,000 liters of milk per day by comparison.

He says the dairy industry has adapted well to the challenges posed by the virus and there is no need to limit the amount people can buy.

He says there is an “abundant” supply of milk and encourages families to get what they need while protecting their loved ones.
