Peter Schmeichel Urges Man Utd Board To Stay With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United don’t need a big manager – because they already have one at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The great uni Peter Schmeichel believes that Solskjaer has done everything right since he succeeded Jose Mourinho and that he deserves time to continue his team makeover.

When the season was suspended, United were on an 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions and up to fifth place in the Premier League, on the eve of a Champions League spot.

Although big names like Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri are linked to United’s work, Schmeichel said the Reds already have a pretty big boss at Solskajer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team have improved a lot recently

“I think Ole was absolutely fantastic,” said Schmeichel.

“Fingers crossed that everyone in the boardroom and the owner circle see the same thing, that they are happy with what has happened and do not see the need to change for another great manager.

“We have a great manager. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is one of the biggest names in Manchester United history, so we don’t need anyone else.

“Ole did them very well. It was 11 unbeaten games, before everything was closed. It was a great shame because the work that Ole did is really amazing work.

Solskjaer hopes to keep good times when football finally resumes

“I don’t think he got the best team of players to do exactly what he wanted to do. He realized very quickly that it was going to take time and he spent that time wisely.

“The players he knew well had to go, I think most of them left. I think the players he brought in were good, in the sense of what he wanted to do.

“So I think United have had a lot of success this season, with the introduction of new players and still at a touching distance from the Champions League qualification. “
