Penn State Remains Active in Sunshine State

Penn State remains busy recruiting in Florida during the shutdown, and the Nittany Lions extended four more scholarship offerings in the Sunshine State on Monday.

Jensen Beach (Florida) defensive back Da’Quan Gonzales added the Nittany Lions to its rapidly expanding list of scholarships on Monday afternoon. In April alone, it received offers from LSU, Duke, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Miami, Tennessee, Illinois and Michigan State.

“Da’Quan has probably benefited more than anyone during this long dead period because he has given college coaches a chance to watch his movie,” said Andrew Ivins, recruiting analyst at 247Sports Florida. “He has good ball skills and a gift for playing. It is listed as a corner now, but is probably making its debut in the security rankings, although that doesn’t mean it can’t do it in the slot or outside. ”

Gonzales had five interceptions as a junior in 2019. He is not currently ranked by 247Sports.

Fort Lauderdale (Florida) Cornerback School School Ricardo Hallman is another who saw his profile grow during the off period. The 6-foot, 183-pound prospect added the Nittany Lions to his list on Monday.

“Hallman is another cornerback who does it in the pads,” said Ivins. “It will not impress you with its construction, but it is very good from a technical point of view. I could see him land somewhere in the Big Ten, if we’re honest. “

Hallman is the nation’s # 32 cornerback and Florida’s # 67 player according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.

The Nittany Lions also moved a pair of 2022 prospects into the state on Monday. Fort Lauderdale (Florida) American Heritage is a regular stop for Penn State assistant Ja’Juan Seider and has a defensive junior back on the rise Earl Little Jr. Little Jr. is ranked as # 155 prospect in the country and # 21 cornerback in its category by 247Sports.

He is the son of the former NFL defender of the same name.

“I think Earl Little could become a five-star hope around the same time next year, given the way he moves,” said Ivins. “He worked behind two seniors who signed with FBS schools last season, but still found a way on the field and ended up picking up four assists. He also has NFL bloodlines. ”

Penn State signed a withdrawal from Clearwater in the last cycle of Keyvone Lee, and offered 2022 tailback James Smiley Jr. Monday too. Auburn, Georgia Tech. West Virginia and other countries have also offered it.

Offers Come On Nittany Lions’ Heels Extending Bursaries To Class 2022 Security Jaylin Marshall in Hallandale, Florida, class 2022 athlete Matthew James at Boca Raton (Florida) St. Andrew’s School and Fort Pierce (Florida) John Carroll Defensive End Class 2023 Wilky Denaud Friday.

Penn State also offered the 2021 Hallandale (Florida) cornerback cornerback Kenneth Norwood the Saturday.
