Open delay possible but R&A says no final decision is made | sport

R&A general manager Martin Slumbers has admitted that postponing the Open Championship this year is a possibility, but a final decision has not yet been made on the fate of the July event at Royal St George’s.

A report in the United States said the Open was on the verge of being canceled due to the coronavirus crisis. Last week, it was clear that the major would at least follow the example of the Masters and the American PGA Championship by delaying. Scheduling issues, television commitments, insurance and the fact that St Andrews is hosting the 150th Open game next summer are all relevant factors.
