The death, in one of the county’s two main hospitals at Cheltenham General Hospital or Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, was the only addition to the numbers in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID deaths for the county to 145 for the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and another 22 at the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, which operates community hospitals and mental health facilities.
The positive cases of coronavirus in Gloucestershire reach 1098, against 1084 yesterday. Nationally, there are now 152,840 cases of coronavirus positive in the UK, with 20,732 deaths.
On the other side of the border in Worcestershire, there have been 196 deaths in the two NHS trusts and 73 more in the North Bristol NHS Trust.
In terms of positive cases, Herefordshire is now at 231, South Gloucestershire at 321, Worcestershire at 1035, Swindon at 337 and Bristol at 571.
Gloucestershire’s NHS revealed on Friday that 281 patients had been safely released from the county’s two main hospitals, but discharge data is not available for free elsewhere in the region for comparison.
