Samsung is killing its Smart View app for Android and iOS, which acts as a remote control for its old smart TVs. The company has updated the app descriptions to announce that it will no longer be supported starting October 5. Android Police first spotted the changes and noted that in addition to its remote control capability, Smart View can also stream music and media to corporate TVs.
That said, recent reviews on the Play Store and the App Store show that Smart View has been broken for some time now, and many people complain that it is no longer working properly. Those who can still use it very well can continue to access it after October 5 until they delete it – it will no longer be available for download afterwards. For everyone, Samsung recommends installing the SmartThings app to replace the old app, although it doesn’t appear to be compatible with all of its older smart TVs.
