NL reports a new case of COVID-19 in the Eastern health region


The provincial government has announced a new case of COVID-19 in the eastern health region.

The search for contacts in the new case is underway by public health. This brings the total number of cases to 258, with 36 active cases.

On Sunday, five people were hospitalized, including two in the ICU.

219 people have now recovered and 7,477 have been tested.

The regional distribution of cases is 240 in the Eastern health region; 8 in Central Health; 6 at Labrador-Grenfell Health; and 4 in the Western health region.

A new case was also announced on Saturday after a consecutive week without cases.

Dr. Proton Rahman – a clinical scientist and professor of medicine at Memorial University will join the panel again on Monday to present updated projection models.
