Are the Patriots looking for a buried quarterback treasure again?
New England recently held a video conference with Florida International flagman James Morgan, ESPN Mike Reiss reported on Sunday morning, citing sources. The Patriots are part of several teams that “took a close look” at Morgan before the 2020 NFL draft.
Discover this extract from Reiss’ column:
“With only the 2019 fourth round pick Jarrett Stidham and veteran Brian Hoyer in the depth chart, the Patriots will almost certainly add a rookie quarterback. The question is when.
“They’re going to throw a large net, as usual. One example: League sources say Florida International quarterback James Morgan had a video conference meeting with the team. Morgan, who grew up in Green Bay and naturally modeled his game on QB Brett Favre of the Professional Football Hall of Fame, is an intriguing prospect who, according to the scouts, has worked well in the East-West Sanctuary game. “
Morgan shouldn’t usually hear his name called until the third day of the project. He is not ranked among Todd McShay’s Top 10 Prospects and is considered an average athlete.
However, if the Patriots are interested in Morgan, there must be Something they love at home.
