New York: peak of the dead and panic push up prices


More people were killed by coronavirus in New York than killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The grim milestone was reached on Tuesday when the Big Apple saw its biggest jump in a day of death from the virus, bringing the death toll to 3,202.

“Each passing day brings more tragedy and one of the most difficult so far,” said Mayor Bill De Blasio.
