New WWE NXT team based on terrorist group

A new WWE NXT the scenario would be based on a terrorist organization active in the 1970s.

As we have noted, recent NXT TV episodes on the USA network showed masked men kidnapping two superstars in the parking lot – Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde. It is not known if this is linked, but the two Superstars had lost to Kushida earlier that night before being kidnapped by the mysterious men wearing lucha masks and driving an SUV.

The story is based on the Symbionese Liberation Army, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. The ALS was a leftist terrorist organization active in the United States in the early 1970s. They were known to have committed various acts of violence, including the kidnapping of heiress Patty Hearst. The 19-year-old daughter of edition magnate William Randolph Hearst was kidnapped in 1974, but it was announced less than two weeks later that she had joined SLA. Hearst later said that members of the group had threatened to kill her and sexually assaulted her, resulting in brainwashing and indoctrination. Hearst’s lawyer would later use the Stockholm Syndrome argument while defending it in court.

Apparently, the NXT Superstars being kidnapped, and there appear to be more in the coming weeks in addition to Wilde and Mendoza, will begin to sympathize with their captors, like Hearst, and join them in a new NXT stable.

The SLA leaders were Donald “General Field Marshal Cinque” DeFreeze and William “General Teko” Harris.

The main leader of the news NXT the stable would be Jorge Bolly, formerly known as King Cuerno and El Hijo del Fantasma. Bolly signed with WWE in August 2019, but suffered a knee injury and was on the shelf for a few months. He finally made his debut in the ring in February of this year, and had teamed up with Mendoza a few times at NXT live events. It has been noted that Bolly will be somewhat based on DeFreeze, but there will also be another NXT Superstar who helps lead the group, based on Harris.

There is no word on who else NXT The superstars to kidnap are, or who will be the leaders of the group. It’s also unclear how the militant or controversial WWE will go with the stable booking, but SLA would be the inspiration behind the new group. We should know more about the scenario after the next NXT episodes, which are being recorded this week and next week in Orlando. Stay tuned for updates.
