South Dakota reported an additional death in the state on Sunday morning. According to statistics from the state, the new death appears to be between the ages of 50 and 59 from Minnehaha County. It was the eleventh death from COVID-19-related illnesses in South Dakota.
West River counties tested more than 800 people with less than 25 positive results and only one active case in the region.
Pennington County reported a new case on Sunday. The county has now tested 512 people with 12 positive results. Only one is still active. Lawrence County tested 148 with nine positive results. The nine have recovered. County Meade tested 115 and returned a positive test. Fall River County has tested positive in 40 tests. The two individuals have recovered. Custer County has yet to test positive in 18 tests.
Minnehaha County is still the hot spot in South Dakota. With 58 of the 65 new cases, Minnehaha now has 1,854 cases, of which 1,013 were recovered. Lincoln County has three new positive cases – up to 128 in total, 73 of which were recovered. Hand and Hutchinson County had the other new cases on Sunday.
There are now 64 people treated in a hospital, three more since Saturday.
Only 65 new positives were reported Sunday morning in South Dakota. It was the smallest number since April 20, when only 49 new cases were reported.
