Nearly 40% of COVID-19 cases in Ontario have recovered

The Ontario Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health said that almost 40% of those confirmed positive for COVID-19 have recovered.

Starting at 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Dr. Barabara Yaffe said the province had reported a total of 4,347 cases, more than 50% of which were in the Greater Toronto Area.

There are at least 46 outbreaks in long-term care centers and are responsible for 56 of the 132 deaths in the province.

Dr. Yaffe also acknowledged that the province’s laboratory was no longer in arrears, with 329 cases under investigation and 3,500 tests performed in the past 24 hours.
