The Lakers were in amazing shape throughout the season which was interrupted by the coronavirus on March 11.
With 19 games before the playoffs, the club easily had the best record in the Western Conference, 49-14.
They led second place for the LA Clippers in five and a half games and were on their way to their first playoff appearance since 2013.
In a conference call with reporters, James said he could be proud of the Lakers’ performances this season, but would feel even less satisfied if the season could not be finished.
“I can have some satisfaction with what our team has been able to do this year (with) a first year coach, a first year system, a whole new coaching staff, bringing so many new pieces to our team this year , ”James was quoted by Sports Illustrated.
“(But) I don’t think I will be able to close if we don’t have the opportunity to finish this season. “
