More than 4,400 new cases of coronavirus in New York, 180 deaths reported

In 24 hours, the number of coronavirus cases in New York jumped by more than 4,400 with more than 180 new deaths, city officials said on Friday.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the city had 52,948 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,584 deaths, officials said. On Wednesday, there were 48,462 cases of coronavirus and 1,397 deaths in the Big Apple.

Queens continued to dominate the five boroughs with the most coronavirus cases at 17,832 on Friday morning.

Brooklyn followed Queens with 14,420 cases, while The Bronx had 9,936, Manhattan with 7,713 and Staten Island with 3,012 cases of life-threatening virus.
