Montreal Canadiens head coach Calude Julien: Jesperi Kotkaniemi recovers in Finland

Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien said injured center Tuesday Jesperi Kotkaniemi is at home in Finland with the NHL season interrupted and added that he suffered no setbacks in his recovery from a spleen injury.

The Laval Rocket announced on March 11 that Kotkaniemi would miss the rest of the season due to a spleen injury he had suffered a week earlier.

Picked third overall by the Habs in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Kotkaniemi was sent to Laval after scoring six goals and two assists in 36 games with Montreal this season.

With Laval, the Finnish center of six feet two inches and 198 pounds scored a goal and collected 12 assists in 13 games.

Kotkaniemi clinched the Habs in his draft year, producing 11 goals and 23 assists in 79 games.
