McDonald’sCanadian restaurants at Corp’s will begin sourcing beef outside the country due to supply chain issues in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic, the fast food chain announced on Tuesday.
The hamburger chain said the supply of imported beef was an interim measure following limitations on processing capacity at its suppliers.
McDonald’sIt’s cited the temporary closure of Cargill’s High River, Alberta. and said he was working with the meat processor and other global suppliers to meet demand.
“Until Canada’s beef supply stabilizes, we’ll source Canadian beef as much as possible and then supplement with imported beef,” the company said.
The company also plans to temporarily remove Angus burgers from its Canadian menu nationwide.
