McDonalds closes restaurant in London due to positive COVID-19 case

LONDON, ONT. –
McDonalds Canada closed a local restaurant after an employee said he tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

The report has been confirmed by local health authorities, said a spokesperson.

Ryma Boussoufa said that the McDonalds restaurant, temporarily closed, is that of 1205 Fanshawe Park Rd. W.

“As a precaution, McDonald’s of Canada decided to immediately close the restaurant for thorough cleaning and sanitation by third-party cleaning experts, WINMAR,” said Boussoufa.

“The restaurant will reopen once direction has been given by the local health authorities.”

McDonalds Canada states that all crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee were asked to self-quarantine until more information is available.

The employee worked Friday from 10 am to 2:30 pm He advised that all customers who may have visited the restaurant that day should follow the instructions of Public Health Ontario.

“We are continuing to work with local health authorities to support our people and our guests and will update this statement as more information becomes available (to) the health authorities,” said Boussoufa. “… Our top priority is to protect the health and well-being of our employees and our customers – this is at the heart of everything we do.”
