For a while there, Sony Pictures was developing “Silver & Black”, a team film that would bring the supporting characters of “Spider-Man” Silver Sable and Black Cat into an unlikely team.
The decision was then made to give each character their own solo outings, but ultimately these projects were abandoned. The only real thing about them was that famous filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood was attached to lead the original team project.
Recently, speaking with THR (via CBM), we asked her what she knew about the current status of the project and it seems that there have been discussions to potentially develop it for the Disney + streaming service:
“I really love this project and I hope it can still happen in one way or another. He continues to go through different thoughts. First it was going to be both, then the decision was made to separate them. Now, there is an idea of ”Hey, maybe we put it on Disney + limited edition”, but I liked it more like a movie with the two of them. So hopefully one day it can happen again. “
It’s a strange choice. While Disney and Sony behaved well on Spider-Man, the creative skills of Marvel Studios only relate to the Spider-Man movies themselves and not the individual spinoffs. However, Sony is one of the few studios that does not develop its own SVOD service, preferring to license its content on a case-by-case basis, which means that it is possible – especially if Kevin Feige happens to have some contribution. .
