LPGA Tour announces additional changes to the 2020 calendar | LPGA

In light of the continuing impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic and current travel and health restrictions around the world, the LPGA Tour today announces additional changes to its 2020 schedule.

On Friday, the LPGA informed players that the next five events on the LPGA Tour calendar have been postponed, with four of the five tournaments postponed until the end of the year. The Pelican Women’s Championship presented by Dex Imaging in Belleair, Florida, originally scheduled from May 14 to 17, will now take place from November 12 to 15. The ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer in Atlantic City, NJ, originally scheduled from May 29 to 31, will travel from July 31 to August 2. The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Simply Give in Grand Rapids, Michigan, originally scheduled for June 11-14, is working on a date to reschedule.

In addition, the USGA announced Friday that the US Women’s Open, which was previously scheduled for the week of June 1-7, has been postponed to December 7-13. The championship will be played at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas, as originally planned, but given the period of December and the resulting loss of light, the Cypress Creek and Jackrabbit courses will be used for the championship. The Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, originally scheduled for May 21-24, will not take place in 2020 but will revert to the date on the LPGA Tour 2021 calendar.

The LPGA has also announced an additional event which has been postponed until 2020. The Kia Classic, previously postponed in March, will now be held September 24-27 in Carlsbad, California.

“We are very grateful to all of our partners for their flexibility and willingness to work with us during this very difficult time,” said LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan. “It has been a real collective effort to reschedule the tournament dates and work together to provide LPGA players with as many playing opportunities as possible once it is safe for us to resume competition. As we watch the world come together in this battle against this virus, we are very grateful for all the support from our valued partners and we continue to wish the health and safety of all of the extended members of our global LPGA family. “

If necessary, if this outbreak continues, other calendar adjustments will be shared as appropriate. Other dates for June events are available later in the 2020 calendar.
