The latest NHS data as of Friday April 24 has been released.
There have been 587 additional deaths reported across England, bringing the death toll in the country to 17,373.
The patients were aged 40 to 102 years. 34 of 587 who died had no underlying health problems.
An NHS England spokesperson said: “A further 587 people who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in English hospitals to 17,373.
“The patients were between 40 and 102 years old. 34 of 587 patients (aged 50 to 102) had no known underlying medical condition.
“Their families have been informed. “
