Hundreds of Ripley, Belper, Alfreton, and Ilkeston homes are without water due to a broken water line.

Severn Trent Water said in a statement that the pipe rupture affected a “very large area” of Derbyshire.

According to traffic information company Inrix, the water pipe exploded at Bullbridge Hill near Ambergate. It indicates that the road is closed in both directions.

A resident told Derbyshire Live that he had been without water for at least two hours.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said, “This morning we identified a large burst water line in Derbyshire.

“This affects a very large area which includes customers in Ripley, Belper, Alfreton and Ilkeston. We get teams on site as quickly as possible to assess the situation. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause at this time. “”
