Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera”, presented at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2011, is now available for free streaming on YouTube for this weekend only. So grab some snacks, dim the lights, and get ready to bring Broadway into your living room.

The free musical is available on Webber’s The Shows Must Go On YouTube channel. Viewers are invited to donate to the Actors’ Fund, which is raising funds for Covid-19 Emergency Relief.

“In these unprecedented times, charities continue to make heroic efforts to help those affected by COVID-19,” begins the video.

“The Actors Fund is providing emergency financial assistance to help cover the cost of essential drugs and the basic living expenses of those affected. “

The organization, which supports behind-the-scenes performers and workers in the performing arts and entertainment, has so far raised more than $ 250,000.

The musical, with Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Boggess and Hadley Fraser, will be available everywhere on YouTube until 2 p.m. Sunday. EAST. The show was withdrawn at 7 p.m. in the UK 24 hours after broadcast due to rights restrictions.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to hit the United States – particularly New York City, home to many live theater performances – the Broadway League has announced that all shows will be suspended until June 7.

Webber launched the channel to give passionate theatergoers around the world a chance to continue watching some of their favorite musicals right at home.

“Universal got the idea for a whole series now called” The Shows Must Go On “, which is about musicals going from stage to screen and they are going to show one of mine every Friday for the next few weeks Webber said in his official video announcement for the series.

The free musicals began on April 3 with Webber’s “Joseph and the Incredible Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Jesus Christ Superstar” on April 10. The channel also presents behind-the-scenes footage and scenes from other musical performances.
