Jacob Wolf of ESPN Esports announced that Team Liquid AD Carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng would return to his former TSM organization. TL placed Doublelift on the trading block last week after the team finished 9th this spring after four consecutive League of Legends Championship Series championships.
In an interview with Inven Global, Doublelift mentioned that he had motivation issues at the start of LCS Spring Split 2020, but realized that it helped him find motivation and work to regain confidence of his teammates.
Doublelift’s motivation may have improved, but the results have not improved. Team Liquid finished 9th, two of their seven wins from a late Doublelift ranking for Team Liquid Academy AD Carry Edward “Tactical” Ra. Now that Doublelift has returned to TSM, Wolf’s report says Tactical should assume the starter position for TL, but the organization will evaluate their options in the coming weeks.
If Doublelift is indeed back at TSM, it will again be reunited with its former Mid Laner teammates Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang. The trio were an integral part of TSM’s remarkable 17th place in 1st place in the 2016 LCS NA Summer Championship and subsequent summer championships. As a member of TSM, Doublelift helped the team win three national titles and qualify for the 2016 and 2017 world championships, as well as the 2017 mid-season invitation.
