But Walker claimed to have won a race between the pair and usurp Sterling’s racing identity by joking on a video call with Soccer AM.

“It’s bad isn’t it, how he runs,” said the defender.

“I mean, he’s really fast but his technique is horrible.

“But he’s a good player … he says he’s faster than me, but maybe the next time you talk to him, or he can actually, you know, say it himself who won in the race we had.

“We had a half race and there was only one winner.”

Asked if this victory made him the fastest player on the club, Walker replied, “Well, Leroy (Sane) was not there, unfortunately, but I always said he was me and Leroy.

“Raheem top ten [metres], twenty, yes – but after that, the technique starts going everywhere and it ends like that, “he said, once again imitating his teammate.

Despite criticism of his racing technique, Sterling has been in good shape for Man City this season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists.
