Labor leader Keir Starmer and Health Secretary Matt Hancock sent congratulatory messages to Boris Johnson and Carrie Symond for the birth of their first child.
The Prime Minister and his fiance announced the birth of a “healthy baby boy in a London hospital earlier this morning”.
Their spokesperson said he was “delighted” and that “the mother and the baby are doing very well”.
“The PM and Ms. Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team. “

It is understood that the PM was present throughout the birth.
The news came just two days after Mr. Johnson returned to Downing Street after a three-week absence due to his battle with the coronavirus.
His father, Stanley Johnson, said he was “absolutely delighted” and “delighted” with the birth of his grandson.

Sir Keir tweeted, “Wonderful news. Congratulations to Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds. “
Meanwhile, Mr. Hancock said, “So delighted for Boris and Carrie. Wonderful to have an unprecedented moment of joy! “
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe directed international tributes to the Prime Minister, tweeting, “My dear friend, @BorisJohnson, my warmest congratulations on the birth of an adorable baby boy! “
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, also presented his congratulations.
He said, “Becoming a father is a unique and great feeling. Congratulations to @BorisJohnson and Carrie Symonds on the birth of your son. A moment of joy and hope in these difficult days. “
Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon also sent her best wishes: “Some good news – congratulations to Carrie and PM. And wishing health and happiness to the little one. “
As Northern Ireland Prime Minister Arlene Foster did, who tweeted, “Wonderful news of the birth of a baby boy! Thank you very much to Prime Minister @BorisJohnson and @carriesymonds. More sleepless nights to come! “
London Mayor Sadiq Khan sent his greetings: “I extend my warmest congratulations to @Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds on the safe arrival of their baby this morning. “
