Major Japanese companies are doing their part in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by producing a hand sanitizer in their factories abroad.
Cosmetics giant Shiseido started an operation in France last week, at the request of the local government. The company produces 20,000 bottles of hand sanitizer per week.
Shiseido has announced plans for a similar project in the United States. The company says it will supply the disinfectant to local health authorities.
Beverage maker Suntory will begin production at a whiskey factory in the state of Kentucky this week. Neither Suntory nor Shiseido intends to produce a hand sanitizer in Japan.
