James Bond Movies: Tom Hardy Returns To Race For The New 007 As His Favorites Face Off | Movies | Entertainment

The loyal James Bond Daniel Craig is to resign as 007 after his fifth and final film No Time To Die. The next 25th Bond movie, slated for release earlier this week but has been delayed due to the coronavirus crisis, will mark the last with Craig at the helm after 14 years as an iconic spy. But who will replace him as the face of the franchise?

A number of leading British players are currently battling bookies in the race to take over as the new Bond.

According to the bookies, among those in the running are McMafia star James Norton, Outlander actor Sam Heughan, Tom Hardy’s Peaky Blinders, Richard Madden and Tom Hiddleston.

But recent developments in racing have seen big moves when it comes to betting.

According to Ladbrokes, Hardy, a former favorite to be the next Bond, climbs the list once again.

His chances were reduced from 8/2 to 6/1, placing him in fifth place.

Norton, meanwhile, remains the current favorite, at the price of only 2/1 to replace Craig.

A recent wave of betting on Heughan, of Scottish origin, who was the favorite of work before Christmas, also prompted bookmakers to reduce his chances.

The Outlander’s star’s chances have gone from 3/1 to only 5/2, which means he slaps on Norton’s heels.

Now that he has officially confirmed Bond 25 as his last release in 007, there is room for a new actor to replace him.

Earlier this year, Grantchester and Happy Valley star Norton denied rumors that he had already been chosen as the new Bond.

After an insider told the Sun that one of Norton’s friends had celebrated and told people that his friend had caught the coveted role, Norton dismissed the reports as “pure speculation”.

When fans finally get to see No Time To Die in theaters, currently slated for November, they will be greeted by a Bond who has retired from active duty and is taking time out in Jamaica.

However, his quiet life is soon shaken by the visit of his old friend Felix Leiter (played by Jeffrey Wright).

The CIA agent informs Bond of the case of a kidnapped scientist and tells him that he is the only one he can trust.

The mission leads the ex-MI6 spy to find a mysterious villain armed with dangerous and advanced new technology.

No Time To Die is released in British theaters on November 12.
