Jace Prescott, brother of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, died this morning. The death was confirmed by Jason Pugh, assistant sports director at Northwestern State University for media relations.
Jace Prescott, the middle of three brothers, was 31 years old.
At 6 feet 6 inches and 343 pounds, the formidable former Haughton High star played the Demons’ offensive lineman from 2008 to 2010.
“He was a great kid who dominated the games,” Rodney Guin, football coach at Prescott High School, said on Thursday. “It was a pleasure to train – like all the boys from Prescott. “
Prescott earned an honorable mention in the LHSAA Class 4A All State Soccer Team in 2006 and was a 2006 first team selection from the first team. He was then named to the 2007 All-City Track Team in the shot put.
Last year, Jace Prescott appeared in a Campbell’s Champions of Chunky ad with his younger brother Dak and older brother Tad.
Before Dak Prescott even started his professional career, he emphasized his brother as a motivation to reach the highest level.
I play for my brothers, “said Dak. Also for my grandmothers, aunts, uncles, dad and friends. (Haughton High) Coach (Rodney) Guin – anyone who helped me get this job. ”
Prescott’s mother Peggy died of colon cancer in 2013.
The Dallas Cowboys released a statement on Thursday evening: “It is with great sadness and support that we share the news of the death of Jace Prescott today. The loss of Tad and Dak’s brother is devastating. In these incredibly difficult times, the Prescott family are asking only for prayers and respect for their privacy. ”
