Hy-Vee now offers one person per cart in response to the coronavirus pandemic

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Hy-Vee recently announced new measures for its grocery stores in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting Monday, April 6, Hy-Vee will encourage customers to follow “one person per cart” at all locations.
Hy-Vee says the recommendation is designed to help slow the spread of the coronavirus and reduce the number of family members who accompany a customer while shopping.
Hy-Vee asks customers to try to designate one person per family to visit the store on each visit and to avoid large group purchases at all times.
“We continue to implement additional means to adapt at Hy-Vee, so that we can serve our customers and protect the health and well-being of those who work and shop in our stores,” said Randy Edeker , President, CEO and President of Hy-Vee. .
In addition, in the coming days, all Hy-Vee stores will install additional temporary window panels on the back of the cash registers to help provide an extra layer of protection for cashiers and customers.
These panels are in addition to the panels which are already positioned on the front of the boxes.

Hy-Vee is also installing new one-way directional signage in its aisles this weekend, which will eventually be installed in all stores. Signage will instruct customers to use aisles in a way that prevents them from crossing paths, in order to maintain six feet of social distance throughout the store.
