Here’s how to make Dalgona coffee with green tea for a fun twist

People love Dalgona coffee, the latest viral drink on social media. The caffeine-containing refill is a gram-worthy concoction that is super easy to prepare at home and tastes as good as it looks. If you’re looking to spice up the recipe, you can even add matcha to the rich mixture. Here’s how to make dalgona coffee with green tea for a tasty sip.

TikTok user @iamhannahcho originally published the recipe for whipped coffee on Tuesday March 10, and since it went viral, everyone has changed the drink with their own unique twists and turns. The original dalgona coffee recipe requires two tablespoons of instant coffee, two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of hot water, whipped together and poured over your choice of milk. If you want to make the green tea version, which was shared by the creator of TikTok @veggiekins, all you need to do is swap two tablespoons of matcha powder for instant coffee. Everything else in the recipe stays the same.

There are a few other popular Dalgona coffee hacks you can try at home. If you want to make a dalgona mocha coffee, as suggested by Twitter users @Nathan_fellicia and @Mrs_DongJun, simply add whipped chocolate or cocoa powder to create a mocha coffee. People on social media are also experimenting with adding boba to their dalgona coffee. Tik Tok user @jadynjhh documented the process, which includes the extra step of boiling your own tapioca pearls and adding a little honey to the boba for a sweet kick. After making your tapioca pearls, place them in the bottom of a glass and pour your choice of milk. The last step is to add the whipped coffee mixture and top it off with whipped cream and chocolate chips.

If you don’t want to stay awake all night, I recommend that you check out the recipe for dalgona chocolate. To make the caffeine-free drink, @joycexhu suggested on TikTok to replace the two tablespoons of instant coffee with cocoa powder. For a creamier texture, you can replace the hot water with four tablespoons of milk.

With so many ways to spice up the whipped Joe cup, it’s time to get creative with your morning sip.
