Health officials report two new cases of COVID-19 in Floyd County, including a 21-month-old child


PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – Update 7:00 p.m.


Floyd County health officials announced two new coronavirus infections today at a press conference.
One of the cases is a 21 month old child. The other is a 64-year-old woman.
The announcement came after the first case, a 22-year-old man, tested positive on Tuesday morning.
The county now has a total of three cases.

Authorities at the Floyd County Health Department are reporting the first confirmed case of the county’s coronavirus.
Sloan, the department’s director of public health, said in a press release on Thursday that the person is a 22-year-old man and is in self-quarantine at home.
Sloan says the man, who will not be identified due to medical confidentiality laws, is doing well.
The health department is working to contact those with whom he may have been in contact recently.
