Half of employees in the French private sector under temporary unemployment

PARIS – French Labor Minister Muriel Penicaud said Wednesday that more than 10 million workers in the private sector have signed up for a temporary unemployment program set up by the government to help businesses endure the impact of the news coronavirus crisis.

“To date, 10.2 million workers in the private sector have been temporarily unemployed. This is more than one in two employees and six in ten companies, “said Penicaud in a BFM Business radio interview. (Report by Myriam Rivet; written by Benoit Van Overstraeten; edited by Jason Neely)
