Graeme Souness told Paul Pogba to “put his medals on the table” after the Manchester United star said he “did not know” who the Liverpool legend and sports specialist Sky were.
Souness has been one of the fiercest critics of the Frenchman since his return to England in 2016 and has frequently condemned his behavior on and off the pitch.
And after the midfielder said he still had no idea what the Scot looked like four years later, Souness issued a withered response.

“I’m happy. The oldest thing in football comes to my mind – put your medals on the table, “he said on Sky Sports” The Football Show “on Tuesday.

Jamie Carragher also criticized Pogba’s comments, adding, “We are quite critical of Paul Pogba, when you are a player, you should definitely be respectful of certain players with certain opinions at different times, and sometimes you have to take this criticism on the chin, so to say that you never heard of Graeme Souness was really below the belt.
The Frenchman turned out to be immune to criticism from Souness and made headlines in his comments on Souness, who won three European Cups and three league titles in Liverpool.
“I didn’t even know who [Souness] “Pogba told UTD Podcast.
“I heard that he was a great player and stuff like that. I don’t know the face but the name [I do].
“Like I said, I’m not someone who watches a lot of [punditry], I watch a lot of football but I don’t stay after the game to listen to what they say about “why they did this” or “why they did this”.
“I like to focus on football.”

One of Souness’ most recent beatings in Pogba came in March when the Frenchman was filmed dancing at his brother’s wedding when he was allegedly injured.
Souness said his actions showed he did not want to play for United and said he expected Pogba to return to fitness shortly before the now postponed Euro 2020.
He said to his expert colleagues on Sky Sports: “It’s just the cynic in me, I think of Paul Pogba … I see him dancing at a wedding, I see him pull hoops, and the cynic in me think that he doesn’t want to be at United. How can you not want to play for Man United, if that’s the case?
Souness’ barbs started when Pogba joined United for the first time. The Scotsman led the charge on the critics, insisting that United had his pants removed by paying him £ 100 million.
Souness said in May 2017: “United has to pay a premium. For United, respect 25% of the price.
“Because it’s Man United and they have money. In my opinion, they had their pants removed by paying £ 100 million.
Souness predicted Pogba will return to form just in time for the now postponed Euro 2020
“I am not yet convinced by this. He may be a player someday, but right now, as we sit here after a year in our football, I’m still waiting to be convinced.
In late 2017, Souness doubled his efforts to isolate Pogba, saying the Frenchman did not have “a basic understanding of his position.”
Although he first praised Pogba for the skills he possessed, Souness couldn’t help but put the knife in them. He said, “When he’s on the ball, there is a lot to admire. He is powerful, he has good technique, he can deceive people, he can ping the ball.
“It’s not me to be a former Liverpool player with a Man United player. I thought the same thing when he was a Juventus player. These are basic things you learn in the youth team. When will he get it?
“He didn’t take a big game by the skin of the neck and dominated it. He doesn’t have a basic understanding of his position, I don’t see that changing.
After Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Inter Milan last summer, Souness once again targeted the Pogba character, saying that he “was not ready to fight” at United.
Pogba has admitted that he spends very little time taking note of his criticisms and focuses on football
Writing Time, Souness said, “If I’m sitting in the Manchester United locker room today, I’m glad Romelu Lukaku is gone and doesn’t want Paul Pogba to be with me if he’s not ready for the fight at come and he also wants to go.
“They are as responsible as anyone for the plight of United, but have actually said to their teammates,” It is everyone’s fault. “No, let’s do it right, guys, you are part of the reason United is not in the Champions League this year.”
But Pogba also admitted that he spent very little time taking note of his critics, saying that “when you know football, you don’t need someone to tell you what’s going on”.
“I guess I miss them, don’t I know?” I’m not someone who always watches Sky News, “he added.
“After the games, when I watch it again, I watch the game, not the comments. When you know football, you don’t need someone to tell you what’s going on.
‘Obviously what I mean when people say” Paul is doing this … Paul … Paul “I don’t know. One day maybe I will meet them [the critics] and ask them because I really want to know why.
“I’m used to it now. I’m really used to it, I don’t mind. It’s good to hear good things instead of bad things but when you play football you know yourself. This is what your manager and teammates want, the rest is just a conversation. It’s selling stuff, I think.
Pogba has been sidelined for most of the current campaign with an ankle injury. He has only made eight appearances throughout the season, without scoring and providing two assists.
