Google Stadia Now Has Free Two-Month Trial To Entertain Self-Insulators

As players isolate themselves around the world, Google Stadia has a free two-month trial of the Stadia Pro subscription service for anyone in the 14 countries supported by the service.

Already registered for Google Stadia? You’ll also get two months free, according to a blog article by Phil Harrison, vice president of Stadia.

This is the first widely available free trial for Google’s game streaming service; those who bought Google Stadia Founder’s Edition received a late three-month trial that they could give to a friend, even though it obviously limited him to the pool of early adopters.

There are a few caveats for the Stadia free trial: only nine games are available, including GRID, Destiny 2: The Collection, Thumper, GYLT, SteamWorld Dig 2, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, Serious Sam Collection, Spitlings , and batteries on batteries (on batteries), by Polygon.

Many of these games were free choices available every month to Google Pro subscribers, and it’s unclear if this selection will change or add new monthly games. You can, of course, use the service to play any of the 38 Stadia supported games that you have purchased yourself.

In another caveat, Google will avoid potential network constraints by changing the default video resolution from 4K to 1080p. The good news is that you can apparently opt out by exchanging data usage in the Stadia app.

After two months, people can keep the subscription for $ 10 a month, if they want. They can look forward to the 120 games that Google claims to arrive at Stadia in 2020, including 10 exclusive to the service.
