Gogglebox fans defended Joe Wicks after two stars in the series accused the PT of “profiting” during the coronavirus pandemic.

During the nationwide lockdown, the Body Coach has become a lifeline for many in self-isolation, hosting daily workouts on his YouTube channel, where millions of people have connected to stay in shape.

But in the latest edition of Channel 4’s reality show, brother and sister Pete and Sophie Sandiford took on his new initiative, which did not please home viewers too much.

In last night’s episode, a clip was shown during an interview, where Joe was asked to find out what he needed to become “the nation’s physical education teacher.”

“Just a webcam,” joked Sophie. “A YouTube channel”.

Her brother added, “And capitalize on a pandemic.” “

To say that it touched the nerves of the fans would be a bit of an understatement, social media was inundated with messages defending Joe and asking the duo to be a little nicer with their words.

“No matter what you think of Joe Wicks, he’s a handsome guy who does something great for kids,” wrote one user. “So let’s drop the trash. “

Supporting this point, another fan added, “They’re usually not wrong on Gogglebox, but the tone of all of Joe Wicks’ slag is really mean. “

Adding that Joe’s workouts are currently “keeping me sane” during the lockout, someone else commented, “Man is a hero. I usually love Gogglebox but I was not impressed. “

It wasn’t all bad news on the program, as fans were soon at the suture after another TV star, Lee Riley, ripped his jeans to try to follow the workout.

Rule number one, Lee hun … don’t train in jeans!
