The 39-year-old Towie Gemma star, who stays with his brother and family in Essex, posted a video saying, “Guys, I have a cheeky little bonfire. What else is there to do in locking? “

Strictly dancer AJ, 25, posted a photo of a big bonfire at his parents’ home in Stoke.

It showed him some old furniture burning with the legend: “Little spring cleaning”.

But firefighters and councils urged people not to start a fire during the lockdown – saying that when Covid-19 causes breathing problems, the smoke gets worse.

Fans also said the stars’ behavior was irresponsible.

Gayle Billington said, “I won’t say again that you shouldn’t be burning right now. But it sounds like really cool stuff.

“I’m sure a charity store would have been grateful if possible. “

And Sarah Sherrington Scales said, “The local council is not burning right now.

“People with asthma and other compromised lung diseases have enough difficulty.”

A source close to Gemma said, “It was not her bonfire, it was her brother’s. “
