As OnePlus handsets gradually climbed the price ladder, buyers became less forgiving of many premium features the company easily ignores, including proper IP classification and wireless charging. These two sensitive points will be addressed with the next series 8 of OnePlus according to the Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal, who also detailed some of the main specifications of the range earlier this month.
Agarwal tweeted a pair of data sheets for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro giving new information on the two highly anticipated handsets. Apparently, only the Pro model will get the IP68 rating and support 30W wireless charging and 3W reverse wireless charging. The standard OnePlus 8 will be much closer to the current 7T. The high-end phone will also use a 120 Hz panel against 90 Hz on the 8, as well as the new RAM LPDDR5 standard. The two will also start at 8 GB of RAM.

Seems to be # OnePlus8Pro is going to be a beast with a QHD + screen of 6.78 “120 Hz and a 48 + 48 + 8 + 5MP camera configuration. Will also have a 30 W wireless charge and an IP68 protection rating. Both handsets will ship with the same 30-watt Warp Charge brick that came with the 2019 models and will use the old UFS 3.0 memory chip. The new 3.1 standard provides improved write speeds. In addition, the datasheet suggests four rear cameras for the Pro, two of which have a 48MP sensor. The non-Pro device has three rear cameras. Both phones would see a jump of almost 500 mAh in battery capacity compared to their respective predecessors. They will be shipped in a new green hue, which leaked separately earlier today. Popular Leaker Steve H. McFly (@OnLeaks) released an alleged press release of the OnePlus 8 Pro in a refreshing green hue. Aside from the color, there’s nothing new in this picture – McFly also leaked similar renderings of the Pro in October. They look the same except for the new OnePlus brand.
OnePlus was also slated to launch a Lite model in 2020, but some previous reports suggest the phone is delayed. The last time we heard about the availability of the OnePlus 8 series, reports suggested that the Chinese company could unveil them around mid-April.
The 8MP telephoto lens would offer a 3x optical zoom (with a 30x digital zoom, which I’m sure will hardly look like a photo), and the 5MP sensor will only work as a color filter. OnePlus is also reportedly working on a completely new night portrait mode, “3-HDR” video and improved image stabilization.
WinFuture gives us a preview of another new OnePlus 8 Pro color variant called “Ultramarine Blue”. It’s a deep, saturated shade of blue that pretty much resembles the original Google Pixel “Really Blue”. If the leak turns out to be correct, OnePlus will really offer a wide selection of attractive colors this time around.
WinFuture confirms the previously released hardware specifications courtesy of Ishan Agarwal. The German store also adds that the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro should support 4K 60fps shooting, as well as 720p 480fps super slow motion. Both handsets also have NFC and dual nano-SIM support on board.
