France ends amateur football leagues

France ended Thursday all amateur football leagues in the 2019-2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This decision was announced by the French football federation.

Thus, all non-professional divisions in France such as the fourth and fifth level leagues, the local leagues and the second level women’s league, as well as the futsal competitions, have ended.

The champions, clubs relegated and promoted will be determined by their points in the rankings from March 13, date on which the French football divisions were suspended due to the virus which left nearly 140,000 dead in 185 countries and regions.

According to Johns Hopkins University, positive cases exceed 2.09 million worldwide.

To date, France has reported 17,188 deaths from the virus and the country is blocked until May 11.
