Earl Foster, a security officer who played four seasons for UH, was pronounced dead at a gas station on block 8000 on the east highway, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
A partner was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to a report from the Houston Police Department.
The double shooting was reported around 9:30 p.m. Police said the victims appeared to have been shot elsewhere. The vehicle arrived at the gas station and asked for help.

An outstanding player at Lamar High School, Foster was a security guard and played 49 games with the Cougars from 2012 to 2015. He was a member of the 2015 UH Conference Championship team.
