Over the years, many former employees have lifted the veil on what it’s like to work there, and they’ve even shared inside information on how to get the best deals.
But there is an element of knowledge behind the scenes that George Allen decided to share, which we actually wish not to know.
Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, he explained what the store code word “code two” really means – and it’s really, really disgusting.
If you hear store announcements that say “cleaner than men’s fashion, code two,” it means staff have found body fluid.
George explained that “urine and feces in the workshop are quite common” – but still quickly flushed out.
He also revealed that it was very unnecessary to ask staff if they had a different size item.
He said, “Sometimes, especially if you work in the workshop, customers ask you if you have a different size garment – and we will carefully check the stock.
“The thing is, none of us really knew where anything was.
“In the six months that I worked there, I found an article successfully, which was actually a pretty proud day. “
But George offered advice on how to get cash on the items when you get to the checkout.
He said, “If you want a customer discount at Primark, it’s very easy. If you want an employee discount, you have to wait until Christmas and even then you only get 10%.
“For customers, an article with any fault or slight mark is struck 10% without debate if it so requests, as I have seen on the counters several times.
“But don’t go too far or you will end up in the Book of Faces. Behind the customer service desk on the third floor is a thick file filled with close-ups of video surveillance of the faces of customers who have hacked, cheated or otherwise misbehaved in the store.
The secrets of your favorite shops
“I still see some of these culprits walking around the city and I wonder if they know their notoriety. “
Another former employee who spoke was Ella Mai, who revealed the best way to make sure you get the great deal you are looking for.
She told Cosmopolitan if you are looking for an item in demand, you should go to Primark in the morning or an hour before closing.
“It will be the time when our recovery on the ground is at its best. “
