Copenhagen will face a clash of major sporting events next year – four Euro 2020 matches and the start of the Tour de France.

The Danish capital has been chosen as one of the host countries for the international football elite competition in Europe, but with the tournament postponed to 2021 due to a coronavirus, it should now face Le Tour this summer.

FC Copenhagen’s Parken stadium is set to host group B matches and a tied game in the round of 16, but the head of the Danish Football Federation (DBU), Jesper Møller, told Danish media that ” 50/50 chances ”to be able to host matches.

Group B matches include Denmark against Finland, Denmark against Belgium and Russia against Denmark.

DBU confirmed Sky Sports News that Chef Møller “remains concerned” about the conclusion of an agreement with the city of Copenhagen, Parken and Sport Event Denmark concerning the organization of the games.

“At DBU we are ready to host four European championship matches in the summer of 2021, but we cannot do this without the unconditional support of our partners,” said Møller.

“We are satisfied with the support, but there is still a long way to go and I will not be sure until we have a final agreement. “

The DBU has until 30 April to tell UEFA whether it can still host its matches as scheduled next year, the same deadline which applies to the other 11 host cities.

UEFA said Sky Sports News April 30 is an approximate deadline for host cities. Some associations cannot make a decision until April 30 because their governments have yet to update them on the current restrictions.
