Edmonton Oilers Colby Cave remains in a coma and family grateful for support

The Edmonton Oilers family ahead Colby Cave provided the following 25-year-old player status update on Thursday.

“Colby is still in a medical coma. It gives his brain time to heal and rest from whatever it has been through, “said a statement on the team’s website. “We would like to thank the Oilers organization, the entire hockey community, all of our friends and family, and all of those who have shown love and support.

“We would like to warmly thank the Colby intensive care team, the neurosurgeons and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital. We appreciate everything you do for our Colby. “

Cave was admitted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Monday evening with brain bleeding and placed in a medical coma. He underwent emergency surgery to remove a colloidal cyst that was putting pressure on his brain on Tuesday.

The Battleford, Saskatchewan native has played 67 NHL career games with the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins.
