Due to COVID-19, next appointment-only blood donor clinic

Dear Collingwood friends,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian Blood Services advises our dedicated donors who are attending the Collingwood Legion blood donation event this Wednesday:

  • The clinic’s goal and the number of beds being run have been reduced to meet the physical distance requirements established by the Public Health Agency of Canada. So, we can now welcome fewer donors for this event.
  • Please note that you may receive an automated message in the next 24 to 48 hours indicating that your appointment has been rescheduled for this event as we are unable to manage our regular donor recruitment. We do everything we can to continue the smooth running and predictability of our fundraising events – ultimately leading to less time to donate – while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Please make sure to listen to your messages.
  • Only donors with an appointment will be accepted on the site. No additional / non-donor person will be allowed to enter.
  • It is important to arrive on time for your appointment, not earlier, as we will not be able to take you earlier.
  • Be prepared for an additional screening at the Legion gate before being welcomed into the building.
  • It is SAFE to donate blood during COVID19 – only healthy people are allowed to donate blood.

Keep on giving and come visit us in Barrie

We have decided to extend the hours on Fridays and Saturdays for the next time at our Barrie Donor Center – located at 231 Bayview Drive. Having a permanent donor center near Barrie will allow healthy residents of the region to continue donating. Donors whose appointments have been rescheduled at Collingwood are encouraged to schedule an appointment at Barrie in the weeks and months to come. To accommodate Collingwood donors, over the next few weeks we will be extending our regular hours on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No one can predict how long the COVID19 pandemic will affect our ability to resume normal activities. If other donation events need to be canceled or moved to another location, you will be contacted by Canadian Blood Services.

Please book in advance; no appointment available at the moment

Reminder: We only welcome people who have meetings in our donor centers and mobile events. This measure will allow us to minimize the number of people inside our facilities and to pre-screen all those who pass through our doors using the pre-screening questionnaire provided when booking an appointment.

Spread the word

Finally, as we have seen since the start of this pandemic, social media seems to be the way most of us learn the latest news, and if there are any changes in your community events over the next few weeks, social media will likely be an early method of communicating change. You can follow @LifelineBarrie on Twitter, or @BloodDonorsOfTheNorth on Instagram. Likes and shares are a wonderful way for you to help us spread our message. Thank you for your tremendous support of Canada’s lifeline! Stay well.
